01-27-10 Oil Spill!

This was an odd day. I was feeling a bit tired and run down and not in the greatest of moods. But I needed to get Frankie's stitches out and needed to get my oil changed. My friend Karen had a mutual friend of ours coming over to work on her car and he could do my oil change as well. Well, long story short I didn't get there until 5 pm and so he was racing against the fading light to get my oil change done. He finished and I stayed to hang out with Karen for a bit. When I left to head over to my rehearsal my car sounded funny and Karen was looking in front of my car with a strange expression on her face. I stopped and rolled down the window and she said "Is all this from your car?" and I looked down at the slick oily mess she was referring to. "I think so." was all I could say. I got out of the car and sure enough it appeared that all four quarts of oil were now on Karen's driveway. Also, my car oil light was on and it was not drivable. I ran inside to try and get ahold of my director to tell him I was going to be late. I also called Curtis to see if he could come get me after his class. Karen called our friend to see if he could come back and fix my car. Then Karen and I got some kitty litter and spread it all over the mess. Our friend came back and figured out that the seal from the first oil filter had gotten stuck on my car and so when he put the new oil filter in, there was no real seal. Hence the major oil spill. The photo really doen't do it justice though because it spread out quite a bit past my car and ended up taking over about half the driveway.

He fixed it and added more oil just as Curtis pulled up. He followed me in my car in case I had any other problems to my rehearsal where they were panicked because I had failed in getting through to my director (I had the home number, not the cell number) and so they were worried about where I was. In their panic they had called my home number which brought them to my dad, so he was also panicked. In his panic he had called my sis in law who then facebooked Karen and Curtis to find out where I was. BUT I got to rehearsal (a bit late but just in time to get some good work done) and I called all the worried parties and everything turned out just fine.

And THAT was my day on Wednesday the 27th of January. It was also my mom's birthday and yes, I talked to her to wish her a happy birthday. :)
