01/06/10
Today (Wednesday the 6th) was a busy day. Trying to keep up with my resolution to workout more like I used to and to walk Frankie just about everyday and getting some other things done (including moving stuff to this blog and writing out other blogs) as well as having rehearsal meant I didn't have a lot of time to do something new. So, after my rehearsal I stopped by Blockbuster to pick up a movie. You see, I have a list of a LOT of classic or semi classic films that I have not seen yet and so I figured I'd see one as my "new thing". I know that so far my "new things" haven't been all that grand. I apologize. Next week I am going to try and schedule some more awesome and fun new things. The problem I am having with this particular theme is that I don't have a lot of money so, some of the things I'd like to do (for example, learning how to scuba dive or going to Egypt) are off limits for me because I don't have the funds. That being said I am starting a list of things that I've always wanted to do but haven't done and that are affordable or free and within driving distance.
So, how did I like "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest"? Well, it was a lot lighter than I expected for the most part despite the dark subject matter. That was a relief although, because of that, by the time the ending came I wasn't expecting quite the level of darkness that it ends on. It is a really well made film and the acting is, of course, stellar. Jack Nicholson is awesome as usual. But all of the cast was really, really good. I didn't know that Christopher Lloyd was in the film so, that was a surprise. I really enjoyed the film as a well made, well acted film. But I don't really think it will be a film I watch again. It was sad.
Part of the reason that I chose that particular film is because my friends are in a production of "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" at the Maverick Theater where both Curtis and I have done shows. I am looking forward to seeing the play version but I figured it would be neat to see the film version too!
I had another "first" of sorts today because I also had my first blocking rehearsal for my show. I didn't take any photos of that though because, well, these people hardly know me, I don't need to be the weird chick who takes photos of people she just met. Hahaha. It went well, I like the cast and director and I think the role will be a bit of a challenge for me. That is a surprise because after my audition, which was a month ago, I felt like it would be fun and easy. Well, a month later and I totally forgot how I played the part in the audition and so, I am kind of starting all over. It is fun, but it's not quite the easy peasy character I thought it would be. At the first read through we agreed that I had played her a bit too nice and that she should be a bit stupider and bitchier. I'm working on it. I might give her an accent too. :)
Anyway, it was fun to get the blocking down and out of the way. I have a week before my next rehearsal so I have time to learn my lines more and to work on the character. Luckily, I happen to be dating an acting coach. :)
Well, that's all for this entry. Hope you're all having a fabulous 2010!
