I am behind and in a time crunch (I forgot how long these projects can take everyday!) So, I am gonna catch you all up a bit.
So, Sunday the new thing I did was to watch "Dr. Who" for the very first time with Dean and Curtis. This show is HUGE for Dean and Curtis and, in a way, it's odd that I had never seen the show before now. But after a while it was really a thing the two of them did and I didn't want to interrupt on "boy time". I really enjoyed it and though it was both my first and last time seeing David Tennant as "The Dr." I am gonna miss him. It was a funny, campy kind of show and yet it was also still exciting and dramatic and touching in a way. It was neat to get a little peek in on a part of Curtis's life for so many years. We've been dating for almost 3 years now and that's not counting the 1.5 years back in 1998-1999. And yet, I had never watched any "Dr. Who" episode with him before. So, in a way it kinda brought us closer together because now I have a bit more insight into "Dr. Who" which is one of Curtis's favorite shows. Dean was kinda of surprised at how little I knew about the show and by the fact that I had never seen it with Curtis. I guess it IS a bit odd, but as I said, the opportunity just never came up and well, we had other stuff on our minds in the past so, we also never tried to make an opportunity. So, yay for the "try something new" challenge for making us try something new! Here is a picture from that!
Then on Monday my "New Thing" was that I went to my first read through/rehearsal for my new show "Jake's Women" at the Costa Mesa Playhouse. It was fun and the cast seems nice and talented and those are both good things. I was very nervous and that day had been action packed for me so I was a bit sore and stiff. I felt exhausted and hungry by the time I got to my rehearsal, and I hope I didn't seem like a stick in the mud. I had woken up inspired to start off the first full week of the year with a good workout. So, I worked out, then went to Disneyland and walked somewhere around 3 miles or more and then went home to walk Frankie another 2.5 miles and then I went to my rehearsal. It ended up being a much longer day than I had planned. But it was fun and like I said, it was good to be starting out the year right (Even if I did end the night with 2 Aleve and 11 hours of sleep)!
Today my plans got a bit sidetracked (but in a good way)when I received a call from some friends asking if I could babysit their baby for a bit today since their usual child care provider was not able to make it. Since I am unemployed I had the time and so I said yes. Lucy is an adorable, happy, well behaved baby so taking care of her was easy. Also, Lucy's parents work from home so, they are around, they just needed someone to keep Lucy entertained and occupied and fed and diapered so that they could concentrate on work. But still, it was a pretty easy day for me. We played, she ate, I changed some diapers and that was that. Oh, she did accidentally scratch my upper lip between my nose and lip while grabbing at my face as babies of her age are prone to do, and that actually drew blood so, that was a little unpleasant, but it didn't really hurt after the initial scratch. The only reason I mention it is because you might notice it in the picture. Then I ran some errands and by the time I got back home I was starting to run out of time for anything else "new" so, though it was not my first time taking care of a baby, it WAS my first time taking care of Lucy specifically and also the first time I spent time with Lucy's parents without Curtis around. So, really, lots of new things today.
I'm going to wait to post that photo though because I need to make sure Lucy's parents are okay with her being in a blog. If not, I won't be able to post that photo here, or I may have to crop is a bit or something.
So, that's what I've been up to the last few days. It's been a busy and exciting start to the year. I hope to have some bigger more exciting "new things" soon for you!
Take care!
Rene
